From Teaching to Performing: My Journey Back to Piano

When I first went to college, I majored in Piano Performance with dreams of becoming a concert pianist. I loved expressing emotions through music and sharing that with others.

But life had other plans! I needed a stable career, so I got certified to teach in public schools. Teaching turned out to be incredibly fulfilling. I enjoyed working with children, sharing my love for music with them, and inspiring the next generation.

After retiring from teaching just over a year ago, I decided to focus on my business full-time, combining teaching and performing. Drawing on my experience from publishing ukulele books, I had a good foundation in music marketing.

Now, I’m thrilled to be building “Chicago Elegant Piano,” where I perform at weddings, parties, and corporate events. It’s a joy to return to performing and create unique arrangements of songs with my background in jazz and composition.

If you’re looking for elegant piano music for your next event, I’d love to be part of it!
